Job Overview

The Adjunct – Welding position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment. The role involves teaching, supporting, and evaluating students; designing inclusive curriculum; engaging large groups with complex material; and employing technology appropriately. The incumbent coordinates teaching schedules, records attendance, grades, and communicates progress throughout the semester. They also participate in department meetings and professional development.


Responsibilities


  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled, ensuring punctuality and adherence to the meeting schedule.

  • Design and maintain accurate syllabi incorporating departmental, college, and cross‑college requirements.

  • Conduct classes, employ appropriate assessment techniques, and measure student performance relative to course goals.

  • Engage students in active, collaborative learning, fostering a sense of community inside and outside the classroom.

  • Provide academic advisement and refer students to support services.

  • Maintain records in accordance with departmental policies and submit grades timely.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Seven years of full‑time experience as a building trades industrial/commercial welder.

  • Associates degree or Journeyperson’s certificate in Sheet metal, Ironwork, Plumbing & Pipefitting, Boilermaker, or Millwright preferred.

  • Successful completion of a federally registered apprenticeship program in any referenced trade.

  • Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred.

  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work sites.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Evidence of successful completion of a federally registered apprenticeship program and prior teaching experience.


Compensation


  • Hourly wage: $56.88 per contact hour.

  • Maximum 12 contact hours per week.

  • Part‑time position.
