Adjunct – Plumbing/Skilled Trades (Pool)

The Adjunct position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a major emphasis on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The incumbent is responsible for instruction and monitoring teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members.

Essential Job Functions

• Teach assigned courses as scheduled.
• Design curriculum that embraces diversity and fosters talent in students, while modeling inclusive teaching strategies and understanding socio‑cultural issues of underrepresented groups.
• Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
• Identify students with academic or other needs and respond using appropriate resources.
• Use technology appropriately to meet course objectives and communicate expectations to students.
• Keep accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies, including attendance, grades, and progress feedback.
• Prepare and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross‑college, and instructor requirements.
• Conduct classes punctually and according to the prescribed meeting schedule.
• Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
• Participate in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson regarding teaching duties and professional development.

Student Engagement & Advisement

• Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, and support for learners.
• Use technology to assist in communication with students.
• Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
• Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the college or in the community.

• Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a Registered Apprenticeship Program specific to the plumbing trade, or five (5) years of industry experience at Journey‑level.

Compensation Details

• Rate: $55.88 per contact hour.
• Contact hour: Two hours equals one contact hour.
• Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week.
• Employment Status: Part‑time.
