Job summary

HFC C invites applications for an ELI instructor to provide integrated instruction in pronunciation, reading, writing, grammar, listening/speaking, and American culture in an intensive language program setting.

The candidate must hold a master’s degree or higher in TESOL or related field or a master's plus 18 TESOL credits, and near-native English fluency (OPI Advanced or Superior may be required). Other duties include maintaining academic standards and supporting student learning.

Qualifications

• Requires a earned Master’s degree or higher in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Teaching Another Language, or a closely-related area.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in another field with 18 hours of TESOL graduate credits.

• Uphold scholarly and ethical standards in the discipline.
• Participate in professional development to improve teaching strategies.
• Ensure fair and respectful treatment of all students.
• Be prepared for class with materials and assessments.
• Maintain attendance and grade records and submit reports by deadlines.
• Develop and distribute a course syllabus and adhere to College policies.
• Be aware of campus support services and refer students when appropriate.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings.
