Job summary

University of North Texas seeks qualified Adjunct Instructors for the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) in Denton. Classes are on-site, with teaching duties across levels and courses in Communication and Writing/Grammar. Expect diagnostic placement tests, ongoing curriculum preparation, and standard classroom duties.

Positions support Fall 2025 through Summer 2027 sessions. Candidates should have a Master’s in TESOL or related field and at least two years of university ESL teaching

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in TESOL or closely related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESL at a university-based IEP focused on English for Academic Purposes.
• Experience teaching all language skills and adapting content for diverse learners.
• Knowledge of a second language; experience living/working overseas; prior IELI teaching in Denton or Hirakata is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach IELI courses (Communication and Writing/Grammar, Levels 1–6) on a half-time to full-time basis.
• Conduct diagnostic testing during Week One to verify student placement.
• Prepare and update curriculum materials and use approved texts and plans.
• Administer testing, grading, attendance, and related classroom services; manage office hours.
