Job summary

Computer-Systems-Institute in Charlestown, MA is seeking an Adjunct Intensive English Program Instructor to teach ESL courses on a part-time basis, plan lessons, assess students, and deliver engaging instruction using an LMS.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field) and have at least two years of adult-teacher experience plus native or near-native English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field)
• At least two years of teaching experience with adult learners
• Native or near-native ability to speak English
• Knowledge of ESL pedagogical methods

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced ESL up to 27.5 hours per week
• Prepare and submit lesson plans prior to each course session
• Grade and provide feedback on student work in a timely manner
• Evaluate and monitor students’ progress using various assessment tools
• Deliver engaging instruction through student-centered activities
• Maintain records to report student progress to the Academic Dean/Program Manager
• Provide academic advising to ensure student growth and retention
• Attend quarterly instructor in-service meetings
• Pursue professional development with at least two activities annually
• Organize quarterly field trips for student enrichment
• Contribute to program improvement through feedback and committees
• Additional tasks as needed
