Job summary

Del Mar College invites applications for the ADJUNCT – SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER POOL. This role supports the college’s communications, languages, and reading programs by teaching assigned courses in various times and locations as needed.

As an adjunct pool member, you may teach online or in-person courses, maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues, and contribute to the college community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or Associate’s degree in Interpreting with three years interpreting experience.
  • State or National Interpreter Certification.
  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
  • Preferred: teaching experience with instructional technologies.

  • Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
  • Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

ADJUNCT – SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER :
The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field
***OR***
Associate’s degree in Interpreting with three (3) years interpreting experience.
State or National Interpreter Certification.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful college teaching experience experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
