Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans and materials per SBSUM and HCU standards.
  • Communicate with parents and administrators to promote educational excellence.
  • Manage classroom behavior and uphold biblical discipline standards.
  • Update records accurately and completely.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
  • Establish clear learning objectives for all activities.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments promptly.
  • Respond to parent inquiries by phone or email; provide information when requested.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Comply with SBSUM, Second Baptist School and Church policies.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and school functions.
  • Supervise co-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.

Second Baptist School University-Model® (SBSUM) is actively seeking (in an ongoing manner) PART-TIME MATH FACULTY to teach in the dual credit program we offer in partnership with Houston Christian University (HCU). This position will serve both as a dual credit instructor for SBSUM and an adjunct professor for HCU.

  • Position Title: Part-Time Faculty for SBSUM and Adjunct Professor for HCU
  • Reports To: Dean of Campus
  • Work Calendar: August – May
  • Possible openings at the following locations: 1463 (Fulshear) Campus
    • Cypress Campus
    • Memorial Campus
    • North Campus
Job Summary

A Second Baptist School University-Model® faculty member must be able to plan, organize and implement an appropriate classroom instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Our dual credit faculty deliver college-level instruction to high school students, fostering academic excellence which emphasizes critical thinking, eloquent communication, and a love of learning. This part-time role includes developing course materials, teaching in alignment with both high school and college standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with school staff to support student success.

Teacher Summary

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and/or deliver lesson plans and instructional materials in accordance with SBSUM and HCU standards.
  • Communicate clearly to, and work closely with, parents and school administration to promote educational excellence.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain biblical discipline standards in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of SBSUM.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development to provide appropriate feedback.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Comply with all SBSUM, Second Baptist School and Second Baptist Church policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings/training: parent conferences, faculty meetings, devotions, school functions and training, as well as other scheduled events.
  • Supervise co-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.

University-Model, classical school, college-level teaching experience, and prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School are considered a plus.
