Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana seeks adjunct faculty to deliver credit and non-credit classes in health sciences. These positions are temporary and on an as-needed basis with flexible scheduling to align with client demand.

Candidates must be Indiana certified EMTs (or higher) and hold or be willing to obtain instructor credentials. Teaching experience and strong communication are required to effectively train healthcare providers and first responders.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an Indiana EMT certification or higher (paramedic, nurse, or physician) and be eligible to teach.
  • Instructor certifications listed above or willingness to obtain are required.
  • Ability to deliver classes in workplace and campus locations and adapt to client objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver credit and non-credit classes as assigned.
  • Teach and train classes at campus and workplace locations.
  • Maintain attendance, grades, and other student records.
  • Develop learning materials for effective delivery of curriculum.
  • Initiate evaluation processes to determine training viability.
  • Promote diversity and inclusive teaching practices.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the department.

  • Deliver credit and non-credit classes as assigned dependent upon qualifications.
  • Teach and train classes as assigned in workplace and campus locations within programming designed to meet specific company learning objectives.
  • Teaching and training will use contemporary adult learning techniques shown in the corporate training arena.
  • Teaching load is dictated by project, or projects, not credit hour production.
  • Work a flexible schedule as dictated by the client company training demand.
  • Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and other information.
  • Develop materials as necessary for the effective delivery of curriculum.
  • Initiate and follow through on evaluation processes that determine the viability of each, and every training program delivered.
  • Assist in the identification of facilities and equipment needs in the classroom.
  • Participate in training and professional development as needed.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
  • Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Must be a current Instructor in one or more discipline above with at least 6 months' experience teaching classes. Must have effective communication skills, be able to problem solve, and have knowledge of equipment and software technology used in classroom. Must have a positive attitude and a passion for teaching lifesaving skills to current and future healthcare providers and first responders.

Must be able to pass School of Health Sciences screening requirements.

Must Be An Indiana Certified EMT, Licensed Paramedic, Nurse, Or Physician. Must Have Flexible Schedule To Teach Classes Daytime, Evening, And Weekends. In Addition, Must Have ONE Or More Of The Following

  • Indiana Primary Instructor Certification
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS or PALS Instructor
  • NAEMT Instructors in one or more disciplines: PHTLS, AMLS, TECC-LEO, AHDR, GEMS, EVOS or EMS Safety
