Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking adjunct instructors to support Nurse Aide and Medication Aide programs across the region. This on-campus, part-time role requires delivering didactic and skills instruction to adult learners, maintaining a safe learning environment and adhering to college policies.

Responsibilities include holding review sessions, maintaining records, collaborating on curriculum and assessment, and supporting student recruitment and professional development efforts.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted RN or LPN license (Virginia or compact multistate).
• Two years of experience as a registered nurse and at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in long-term care.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to community college philosophy and student success.
• Current AHA-BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective didactic and skills instruction to engage adult learners.
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment and adhere to policies.
• Hold review, remediation and office hours sessions for students; maintain participation and performance records.
• Collaborate on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment.
• Assist in student recruitment activities and professional development requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Nursing

Recent experience teaching Nurse Aide courses

Satisfactory completion of a course in teaching adults

Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college

Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses

Experience using Canvas or similar learning management system

Meet the VBON qualifications as a primary instructor: two years’ experience as a RN within the previous five years
