The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security andCybersecurity (CEHC) is the first of its kind in the nation;uniting people, technology and knowledge to address the challengesof the 21st century. The Emerging Technology and EntrepreneurshipComplex (ETEC) is the $180M research, instructional andentrepreneurial complex in which CEHC resides, providing ourfaculty state of the art laboratory and teaching spaces.

CEHC seeks adjunct lecturers for our new and growing Game Design& Development (GDD) program. The candidate will teach gamedesign and development courses which may include but are notlimited to game programming, game art, game technology, thebusiness of games, game studies, UI/UX for games, and gamedesign.

The position offers an opportunity for a dynamic educator andpractitioner to contribute to a rich interdisciplinary curriculum.Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in game designthrough their teaching or training program.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in game design &development in one or more areas which may include but not limitedto game programming, game art, game technology, the business ofgames, game studies, UI/UX for games, and game design.

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of game design and development principles in one ormore areas such as game programming, game art, game technology,UI/UX for games, game studies, or the business of games.
• Ability to design and deliver effective undergraduate and/orgraduate instruction in game design and development acrossin-person, online, and hybrid modalities.
• Ability to integrate current professional practices, tools, orindustry experience in game-related fields into academiccoursework.
• Ability to communicate effectively and foster an inclusivelearning environment that supports student success within a diverseacademic community.
• Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive andequitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

Minimum Qualifications

• A MA, MS, MFA in Game Design & Development, InformationScience, English, Animation, Computer Science, Engineering orNetworking, or a closely related field from a college or universityaccredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationallyrecognized accrediting organization.
• Three or more years of academic teaching or professionaltraining experience.
• An ongoing professional practice which includes any of thefollowing: game or play-related work, commercial or indie gamedevelopment or game-related asset production / technical art.
• Demonstrated readiness to teach undergraduate and/or graduatecourses in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/orhybrid).

Preferred Qualifications

• A terminal degree in Game design and development, InformationScience, English, Animation, Computer Science, Engineering orNetworking, or a closely related field from a college or universityaccredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationallyrecognized accrediting organization.
• Experience teaching graduate courses in game design &development such as game programming, game art, game technology,the business of games, game studies, and game design.
• Demonstrated experience or teaching in multiple modalities(in-person, online, and/or hybrid).
• One or more years working in the game design and developmentindustry.
