Job summary

The School of EMS is seeking an Adjunct Lab Instructor to deliver high-quality skills instruction and facilitate realistic EMS scenarios during live sessions. You will work with the primary instructor and SOE leadership to enforce policies and support student progress.

Qualified candidates will have EMS experience, complete instructor orientation, and be able to grade psychomotor and affective outcomes while following the lab plan and annual training requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively to groups.
• Experience with EMS curriculum and lab instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides live skills and scenario instruction during lab classes.
• Grants consistent instruction aligned with the lab plan and syllabus.
• Supports policy adherence and coordinates with lead instructors and leadership.
• Attends meetings and completes annual training as required.
• Grades students on psychomotor and affective abilities per syllabus.
• Reports student progress and participates in debriefs.

Reports to: Site Manager or Site Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Adjunct Lab Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality skills instruction and scenario facilitation during live sessions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides live skills and scenario instruction during lab classes.
• Supports the mission vision and values of the school to outside agencies
• Works closely with the primary instructor and SOE leadership in enforcing student compliance with policies and procedures
• Attends occasional team meetings and annual training
• Grades students on psychomotor and affective abilities according to the syllabus
• Follows the scheduled lab plan
• Reports on student progress and participates in debriefs
• Conducts themselves appropriately, especially if travelling

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

2 years in a prehospital system at the level instructing

The instructor must complete the School of EMS Instructor Orientation.

Part 1: Completed prior to instructing students

Part 2: Complete within 30 days of hire

Part 3: Complete online module within 30 days of hire. Should complete the entire onboarding process including card course instructor within 6 months of employment.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

State paramedic or EMT license in good standing, depending on the level instructing

Language Ability

Must exhibit the ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment.
