Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Adjunct – EMS Technology to provide quality instruction and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom, with emphasis on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students.

The role requires strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and the use of technology for delivering instruction. Responsibilities include grading, syllabus maintenance, attendance, and engaging large groups with complex material.

Qualifications

  • An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a healthcare provider.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with an Ohio orCoAEMSP-accredited EMS training program.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled.
  • Participates in identifying students with academic or other needs and responds with an appropriate resource.
  • Uses technology in instruction and communicates expectations clearly to students.
  • Keeps accurate records in accordance with department policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, submits grades timely, and communicates progress feedback.
  • Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi incorporating requirements.
  • Conducts classes punctually per meeting schedule.
  • Employs assessment techniques to measure student performance.
  • Engages in meetings regarding teaching duties and professional development.
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere for active and collaborative learning.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication with students.
  • Encourages community among students inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refers students to appropriate support services available at the College or community.

Job Description:The Adjunct – EMS Technology position provides quality instructionand maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom,with major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluatingstudents. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitorsteaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by theDepartment Chair or other leadership members. The incumbent mustexhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitaskwhile engaging large groups of people with complicated material.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instruction & StudentLearning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled.
  • Participates in the identification of students with academicor other needs and responds by utilizing an appropriateresource.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradesin a timely manner and in accordance with established Collegepolicies and procedures, and communicates progress feedback andother relevant information to students throughout thesemester.
  • Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporatedepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructorrequirements.
  • Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with theprescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure studentperformance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department, LeadInstructor, and Chairperson regarding teaching duties andprofessional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encouragesactive and collaborative learning, student effort, academicchallenge, student and faculty interaction, and support forlearners.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication withstudents.
  • Encourages a sense of community among students for learningboth inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.
Culture of Respect
  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance isrequired.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
  • Attend all department meetings and required trainings.
Minimum Education and Experience Required
  • Associate degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a healthcare provider.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with an Ohio orCoAEMSP-accredited EMS training program.

Licenses and Certifications
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
  • Ohio-certified Paramedic and Ohio-certified Fire &Emergency Medical Services Instructor; OR Ohio Medical BoardLicensed Physician and Ohio-certified Physician EMSInstructor.

Compensation Details:
  • Compensation: $57.88 per contact hour
  • Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
