Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College in Hampton is seeking an Adjunct Faculty – Unmanned Systems to teach up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring and up to 8 credit hours in summer across the Hampton and HT campuses. Courses include Ground School (UMS 107), Manual Flight (UMS 111), Photography and Videography (UMS 125), Maintenance (UMS 177), and Autonomous Flight (UMS 211).

Ideal candidates hold FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification and can perform RPIC duties, plan and execute missions, and

Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification required.
• RPIC planning: plan, fly, crew management, data collection and analysis.
• Understand sUAS operations in FAA airspace; basic maintenance and sensor integration.
• Support flight instruction labs and interactions with customers and teammates.
• Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues on fixed wing and multirotor platforms; safe emergency recovery.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and student-centered teaching approach.
• Willingness to serve traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs and document learning outcomes.
• Maintain records and submit final grade rosters on time according to deadlines.
• Must be able to work at all campuses.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver instruction for day and evening classes.
• Responsible for student assessment and grading.
• Maintain adequate on-campus presence.
• Provide timely communication with students, staff, and administrators.
