Job summary

Lansing Community College seeks an Adjunct Instructor for their Masonry/Concrete Construction program. The position requires teaching Building Technologies courses, communicating technical knowledge, and guiding hands-on work in classroom and lab settings with diverse students.

Teaching may occur day or evening; regular on-campus presence is required. Applicants must meet degree/experience requirements and Michigan residency rules apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and two years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR Associate's Degree in a related field and four years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of eight years relevant experience residential/light commercial construction field.
  • Michigan Residential Builders License.
  • Experience in masonry layout.
  • If an educational degree is required… unofficial transcripts must be submitted with the online application.
  • Applicants with foreign education credentials must have evaluation by a NACES member before submission.

The Masonry & Concrete Construction Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for teaching Building Technologies courses in Masonry/Concrete Construction. This individual must effectively communicate and demonstrate technical knowledge and hands‑on skills in both classroom and laboratory settings while engaging a diverse student population. The successful candidate will adapt instructional methods to accommodate a variety of learning styles and foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. A strong commitment to construction safety and quality construction standards is essential.

Teaching assignments may include daytime and/or evening face‑to‑face instruction.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR Associate's Degree in a related field and four years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of eight years relevant experience residential/light commercial construction field.
  • Michigan Residential Builders License.
  • Experience in masonry layout.
