At the Great Lakes Center for Utility Training, the Lineworker Adjunct Instructor must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate knowledge of specific technical skills in climbing, construction, and maintenance of electrical lines in both a lab and classroom environment to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will be able to adjust instructional technique as required by students’ learning style while maintaining a positive learning environment. They must have the ability to collaborate with students and peers in order to establish a positive and collaborative learning environment. They must also provide a safe, operational, and positive learning environment for our students and fellow faculty members where safety is not compromised and safety guidelines are strictly enforced. They must be willing to teach various classes within, but not exclusive to the Electrical Lineworker program. The successful candidate will demonstrate good climbing technique to climb wooden utility poles to a height of up to 60 feet and successfully operate Lineworker vehicles and equipment. Must be current on regulations applying to electrical utility work such as OSHA, NESC, etc.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.
