Job summary

Wake Technical Community College seeks to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach Emergency Medical Science classes. Adjunct positions may be available now or contacted in the future.

Instruct with efficiency, keep records, and prepare for each instructional hour. Qualified candidates will hold NC Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic credentials, have two years of teaching or related experience, and ideally possess an Associate's degree.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed as NC Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic.
  • Two years of full-time or part-time teaching experience in a post-secondary environment or related instructional experience.
  • Preference for an Associate's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date.
  • Stays abreast of current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible.

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Emergency Medical Science classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis. ,

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with students, peers, supervisors and staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Knowledge of Blackboard (an online Learning Management System) is preferred
Requirements

  • Credentialed as a North Carolina Paramedic or as a National Registry Paramedic
  • Two years of full time or part time experience teaching in post-secondary educational environment; or experience instructing students as a preceptor; or experience as a training officer
