Job description

Job Description Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool that is available to the departmental search committee for consideration when a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from this pool on an as‑needed basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of specific learning outcomes identified for assigned courses, mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom, and creating and maintaining an effective learning environment in all modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, dual credit). Faculty are expected to

  • maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures,
  • provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes,
  • engage in instructional preparation and provide timely feedback to students,
  • submit final grades in a timely manner,
  • maintain ethical and professional behavior,
  • be available to students by appointment,
  • attend adjunct faculty meetings,
  • assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, and
  • complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education
  • Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study,
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study,
  • Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study,
  • Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.

All applicants must possess Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.

Required Experience
  • Three years in the audio/recording business or three years teaching audio engineering courses.
Preferred Education
  • Master’s Degree
Preferred Experience
  • Five or more years in the profession or in teaching or a combination of the two.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
  • Ability to provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives of all assigned courses.
  • Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
  • Effective communication with students, college personnel, administration, peers, and public groups.
  • Respectful treatment of all persons, upholding non‑discrimination.
  • Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
  • Observe the College’s policies and procedures.
