Job description

Job Title: Adjunct – Information Systems Technology

The Adjunct – Information Systems Technology position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair, or other leadership members. The adjunct must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled and exercise oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with Department policies, ensuring rigor of programs and quality of instruction.
  • Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
  • Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicate clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
  • Keep accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies: attendance records, grades, progress feedback.
  • Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross‑college, and instructor requirements.
  • Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson regarding teaching duties and professional development.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, and academic challenge.
  • Maintain posted office hours in accordance with departmental and College policies.
  • Use technology to assist in communication with students and encourage a sense of community among students.
  • Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
  • Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of business experience working as project manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IT‑related project management responsibilities.
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Agile Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
  • Any appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify.
Licenses and Certifications
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
Working Conditions

Classroom environment may include in‑person or online modalities.

Compensation

Compensation: $56.88 per contact hour. Two hours equals one contact hour. Maximum of 12 contact hours per week. Part‑time.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check and/or MVR check as well as a 10‑panel drug screen required during the pre‑employment process (required for most positions).
