Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is actively seeking an Adjunct faculty member to teach software development and related IT/CS courses according to program needs.

The role requires delivering assigned classes, developing and updating syllabi and course materials, and using technology to enhance learning. You will maintain student records and engage students with active teaching strategies, while upholding college policy and FERPA.

Qualifications

  • Earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in a related field.
  • Master's degree with documentation of 18 semester hours beyond introductory level in the field.
  • Two or more of: professional certification, two years in-field employment, teaching excellence evidence, research/publication, or 18 semester hours of related coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers assigned classes according to College policies and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students to create a positive learning experience and implement active teaching strategies.
  • Interacts professionally with students and staff and complies with College policies and FERPA.

Job description

Job Type: Part-time Classification: Adjunct faculty Salary Range: $47.35 Per Contact Hour Reports To: Department/Program Chair

Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Schedule: Day or evening classes based on class schedule and enrollment. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Requirements:
  • Possesses an earned master's degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of field master's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional or state Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU's, vendor, or military
  • Possesses an earned bachelor's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the field Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU's, vendor, or military.
SDEV 200 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching SDEV 200 meets the Software Development (SDEV) program standard and holds a valid, non-expired Oracle Java Programmer I certification or three years of documented object-oriented software development professional employment.
