Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.

Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.

Develops / maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.

Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).

Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.

Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Department Chair of Information Technology

SUPERVISION GIVEN : None

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

Minimum Qualifications : Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following :

Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the information technology field.

Four years of professional employment in the information technology field.

Documentation of research and publication in the field.

Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

Conducts all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Preferred Qualifications : Experience with Python, CSS, HTML, and Visual Studio or VS Code preferred.

Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, or a computer related field as appropriate to the program; or

Possesses an earned related or out of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, or a computer related field as appropriate to the program; or

Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following :

  • Professional certification (national, regional, or state)
  • Two years of in-field professional employment
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

WORK HOURS : Daytime on-campus availability is required for the fall 2024 semester.
