Job summary

La Salle University is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach Principles of Sociology for the BUSCA program on our Philadelphia campus. Courses are taught in the evening, 6:15-9:00 PM, with emphasis on helping English Language Learners develop both content knowledge and language skills.

Responsibilities include lecturing, designing a syllabus, creating assessments, and using Canvas. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree and have experience with ELLs; PhD preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Sociology, Education, or related field.
• Experience or training working with English Language Learners.

• Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar.
• Create a syllabus that meets the Provost’s Syllabus Checklist requirements.
• Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course.
• Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner.
• Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning.
• Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the BUSCA Program.
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines.
• Communicate student concerns with personnel in the program.

Position Summary

The BUSCA Program on our Philadelphia campus is seeking part‑time adjunct instructors to teach Principles of Sociology, a core class for students in our associate degree program. As BUSCA is a program for English Language Learners, all instructors are expected to teach students the content specific to the assigned course as well as help students develop their English language skills.
