Job summary

La Salle University in Philadelphia is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach Spanish courses. The department also recruits to teach (SPN 203, 204, and/or 480) for heritage speakers in BUSCA, the associate degree program at night.

In this pooled process, selected instructors may be contacted when a need arises. You will prepare lectures, create syllabi and assessments, answer questions, use Canvas, attend meetings, and submit grades by deadlines while upholding university policies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
• PhD in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
• Experience or training in teaching Spanish; Preference for heritage speakers.

• Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar.
• Create a syllabus that meets the Provost’s Syllabus Checklist requirements.
• Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course.
• Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner.
• Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning.
• Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the department.
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines.
• Communicate student concerns with personnel in the department.

This is a pooled position from which Adjunct Instructors will be selected when/if a need arises in the department. • PhD in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
• Experience or training in teaching Spanish. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with heritage speakers for our courses offered to heritage speakers.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

• If hired for BUSCA, instructors must be available to teach from approximately 6:00-9:15 PM as it is a program for evening students.
