Adjunct Faculty, English for Academic Purposes Writing Instructor

Position Overview

Position Title: Adjunct Faculty, English for Academic Purposes Writing Instructor

Position Summary

The Department of Global Languages, Literatures, and Perspectives on our Philadelphia campus is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach writing courses for the BUSCA Program. Specifically, BUSCA students take INST 105 (Academic Discourse: I), ENG 110 (College Writing I: Persuasion), ENG 210 (College Writing II: Research), and BSCA 250 (BUSCA Capstone Course).

Responsibilities
  • Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar.
  • Create a syllabus that meets the Provost’s Syllabus Checklist requirements.
  • Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course.
  • Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner.
  • Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning.
  • Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the department.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines.
  • Communicate student concerns with personnel in the department.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in English. Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or training in teaching English Language Learners.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
  • BUSCA instructors must be available to teach from approximately 6:00–9:15 PM as it is a program for evening students.
