Job summary

Terra State Community College seeks an adjunct nursing instructor to supervise nursing students in clinical or campus laboratory settings, under direction of course faculty. You will oversee experiences delivering nursing care to individuals or groups during clinical or lab sessions.

Responsibilities include aligning clinical outcomes with course objectives, orienting students to sites, assigning tasks, supervising per regulations, and participating in faculty meetings.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved professional nursing education program.
  • Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing required; enrollment in a graduate level course of a program for a registered nurse to master’s degree with a major in nursing preferred for clinical positions. Master’s degree in nursing to teach in laboratory.
  • Current active licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio required.

  • Communicates clinical or laboratory objectives to the student, preceptor, and the staff at the clinical site.
  • Provides orientation for each student to the environment of the clinical site or laboratory environment.
  • Makes assignments consistent with the specific objectives or outcomes of the course in which the student is enrolled.
  • Provides supervision of each student in accordance with rule 4723-5-20 of the Administrative Code.
  • Provides input for evaluation of the student’s experience, achievement, and progress in relation to the clinical/laboratory objectives.
  • Attends nursing faculty meetings and committee meetings as requested.
  • Maintains competence in area of expertise.
  • Maintains availability to students by telephone and/or appointment to answer questions and provide assistance.

Position Summary

  • Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.
Education and Work Experience
  • Completion of an approved professional nursing education program.

Certificates and Licenses

  • CPR certification required.
  • Specialty certification in area of expertise preferred but not required.
  • ACLS/PALS/BTLS/ATLS certification as required by specialty area.
