Job Description

The Adjunct – Nursing Certificate position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students.


The role includes instruction and monitoring teaching/learning effectiveness in the Nurse Aide Training Program as assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members.


Core responsibilities include:



  • Teaching assigned courses on a scheduled basis.

  • Designing curriculum that embraces diversity and models inclusive teaching strategies.

  • Considering individual student differences to design appropriate learning activities.

  • Identifying students with academic or other needs and utilizing appropriate resources.

  • Using technology to support learning and communicating expectations to students.

  • Keeping accurate records, maintaining attendance, determining and submitting grades timely, and providing feedback throughout the semester.

  • Distributing accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross‑college, and instructor requirements.

  • Conducting classes punctually and meeting prescribed schedules.

  • Employing assessment techniques to measure student performance.

  • Participating in meetings with department leadership regarding teaching duties and professional development.

  • Creating a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning.

  • Using technology for communication with students.

  • Encouraging a sense of community among students.

  • Referring students to appropriate student and academic support services.

  • Fostering a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members.


Compensation


  • Rate: $55.88 per contact hour.

  • Contact hour definition: Two hours equals one contact hour.

  • Maximum of 12 contact hours per week.

  • Part‑time position.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Associate's degree in a closely related field.

  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

  • Current Ohio RN Licensure that is in good standing.

  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  • Prior teaching experience.


Physical Requirements
