Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is hiring adjunct faculty on a semester-by-semester basis to provide effective instruction and assess student learning within the shared syllabi framework. The role includes teaching scheduled classes, delivering course content, and maintaining attendance and grades per college policy.

Responsibilities also include using Canvas and PowerPoint, being available to students outside class time, and coordinating with the program chair for issues.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution; two years of related work experience; and completion of academic preparation or current professional certification in the field.
• Alternative: earned associate degree with minimum one year of related work experience and current certification or completed academic preparation.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Major Responsibilities

PROGRAM OPERATION

• Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
• Submit requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS

• Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.
• Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION

• Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
• Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
• In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
• Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
• Promote same as an integral part of one’s work.

Pay: $47.35 per contact hour

Hours : Daytime, evening, or weekend classes - based on availability and course schedule

Education, Experience And Other Requirements

A qualified Medical Assisting faculty member:

• Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, AND
• Is current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives included in their assigned teaching, as evidenced by two years of directly related work experience, and one of the following:
• Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program and/or discipline being taught or a Current Professional certification in the field

Or possesses all of the following criteria:

• Possesses an earned associate degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Has a minimum of one year of related work experience
• Current professional certification in the field or completed academic preparation appropriate to the course being taught
