Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg, IN invites applications for adjunct faculty in medical assisting. This temporary, part-time position is filled each semester as needed to deliver instruction and assess student learning within a framework of common syllabi.

You will use Canvas and other technologies to facilitate teaching, maintain records, and align with program outcomes, while upholding FERPA and safety standards. Prior credentialing and MAERB-ready coursework are preferred.

Qualifications

• Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• MAERB Core Curriculum objectives knowledge evidenced by related work experience or credentials.
• Current professional certification in the field.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology to support learning.
• Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and documentation per FERPA and policy.
• Use Canvas or LMS to facilitate teaching, assessment, and communication.
• Develop and maintain curriculum aligned with course objectives and outcomes.
• Ensure safety and emergency procedures are known and implemented.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. Position requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and employees.Major ResponsibilitiesInstructionDeliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and following college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.Engage with students in meaningful and productive easy that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.Communicate with program chair to ensure the classroom and instructional laboratory environment are conducive to student learning and in adherence to federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.Use Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.Communicate with program chair to develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials in keeping with and furtherance of course objectives and program learning outcomes.Ensures knowledge and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.Enrollment Management, Student Retention, and Student SuccessMonitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, and referrals to appropriate college resources.Professional DevelopmentParticipate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.Ensure completion of professional development required to maintain professional licensure.Meet all professional development requirements of program accreditor.Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.Maintain strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to professional area of instruction.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list.
