Summary of Job Duties:

Teach in one of the following subjectareas as assigned: Anthropology, History, Philosophy, PoliticalScience, Religion, Sociology.

This is a pool position. Applicants will be contacted as positions become available. The position reports to the departmenthead/program director/dean who assigns responsibilities regardingstudent needs and course outcomes.

Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience:

Qualifications in instructors teaching in the classroom for both lower and/or upper-level courses leading to an associate or bachelor’s degreerequires a master’s degree in the discipline or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the subject area. Coursesleading to a master’s require a doctorate degree. Adjunct facultywith a clinical assignment must be prepared at the level requiredby accreditation. Instructors in occupational and technical areasare generally required to have a minimum of an associate’s degreeand related work experience. Other job-related education and/orexperience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:

Prior teachingexperience.

  • Current knowledge of the relevant discipline.
  • Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries.
  • Ability to respond to needs of learners from a variety of educational backgrounds in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to deliver course outcomes and content through a variety of teaching/learning styles.
  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonalrelationships with students and colleagues.

Work performed primarily in anoffice setting. While performing the duties of this job, theemployee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering datainto computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods oftime, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands includeclose, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computerscreen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionallylifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Monday throughFriday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional overtime and travelrequired
