Job summary

Mercy University seeks passionate adjunct instructors to teach Microbiology lecture and laboratory courses for the Fall 2024 term. Courses are fully in-person at the Dobbs Ferry or Bronx campuses, with undergraduate programs across biology and health sciences.

Ideal candidates have MS in Microbiology or related field, teaching experience, and a commitment to a diverse student population. PhD preferred; LMS and teleconferencing experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• MS required in microbiology or related field.
• PhD preferred for candidacy.
• Undergraduate teaching experience and strong teaching records are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Teach Microbiology lecture and/or laboratory sections, in-person.

Job Summary:
The Department of Natural Sciences at Mercy University is seeking passionate, dedicated and experienced Microbiology lecture and laboratory instructors to join our adjunct faculty for the Fall 2024 term. This is an opportunity to join the School of Health and Natural Sciences with undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, health science, communication disorders, exercise science, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology as well as 4 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).

• Teaching one or more sections of Microbiology lecture and/or lab (fully in-person) at the Dobbs Ferry or Bronx campuses.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Industry work experience, research experience and/or prior teaching experience a plus.
• M.S. in Microbiology or a related discipline, required.
• Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related discipline, preferred
• Candidates with a record of excellent teaching at the undergraduate level are strongly preferred.
• Experience teaching Microbiology lecture and/or laboratories to undergraduate students strongly preferred.
• Commitment to working with a diverse population of undergraduate students.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required
• Strong computer skills required.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly with BlackBoard, as well as teleconferencing software, particularly Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate, strongly preferred.
