Job summary

MCPHS is seeking adjunct faculty to teach first year writing on the Boston Campus for Fall 2026. Several sections are available on Tuesday/Thursday 8am and Monday/Wednesday afternoons.

Successful candidates will design syllabi, craft engaging assignments, use the university LMS, and advise students through office hours, videoconference, or email. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or related field.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college/university level.
• Commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff).
• Experience teaching health care-focused students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
• Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
• Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms.
• Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face courses in first year writing to undergraduate students on the Boston Campus during the Fall 2026 semester. Currently we have some Tuesday/Thursday 8am sections and some Monday/Wednesday afternoon sections available. Successful candidates will be expected to:
