Job summary

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) seeks adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face first-year writing courses on the Boston Campus for Fall 2026. Sections are Tuesday/Thursday mornings and Monday/Wednesday afternoons.

The ideal candidate will provide a detailed syllabus, engaging assignments, and act as a primary advisor during office hours to undergraduates. The role requires a master's degree in English or related field and at least one year of college teaching

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in English or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff).
  • Experience teaching health care-focused students preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
  • Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered
  • Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
  • Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor

Job description

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face courses in first year writing to undergraduate students on the Boston Campus during the Fall 2026 semester. Currently we have some Tuesday/Thursday 8am sections and some Monday/Wednesday afternoon sections available. Successful candidates will be expected to:

The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.
