Seminole State College of Florida invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Fire Science. The role includes teaching assigned courses, developing syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, grading, and providing timely feedback.
Faculty will use CANVAS and engage in professional development to support student success. Compensation is based on the college's Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule, with part-time duties across various campus locations.
Adjunct Faculty are responsible for teaching assigned courses,which includes developing and posting syllabi, preparing anddelivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments,grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback. In addition, Adjunct Faculty are expected to engage in professionaldevelopment, effectively utilize the College’s Online LearningManagement System (CANVAS), and maintain open communication withstudents, colleagues, and supervisors. They may also contribute tocurriculum improvement efforts aimed at enhancing studentsuccess.
The responsibility of Adjunct Faculty is to teach classes as assigned. Duties related to the teaching of a course include, but are not limited to, the following types of activities:
Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or closelyrelated field with at least two levels of certification fromrecognized industry leaders and appropriate documented workexperience of at least six years in the field
Option 2: Bachelor’s degree with at least two levels of certification from recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field
Option 3: Associate degree in Fire Science or closelyrelated field and at least two levels of certification from nationally recognized industry leaders and appropriate documentedwork experience of at least six years in the field
Option 4: Associate degree and at least two levels of certification from nationally recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in thefield
Option 5: Career certificate in Fire Science with at leasttwo levels of certification from nationally recognized industryleaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least sixyears in the field

Adjunct faculty are paid according to Seminole State College’sNon-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule, based on theinstructor’s highest degree earned.
