Job summary

Ivy Tech Evansville seeks an Electric Line Technology Adjunct Instructor to provide engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within Electric Line Technology. The role requires teaching in person at the Evansville, IN campus, using Blackboard/Canva/PowerPoint and other tools as appropriate.

  • Journeyperson line worker card is required.
  • At least five years of field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in technology, engineering, engineering technology or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Electric Line Technology courses in person at the Evansville, IN campus.
  • Provide syllabus and maintain attendance/grades per college policy.
  • Utilize Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint and other tools as appropriate.
  • Be available outside scheduled class time to assist students.
  • Promote diversity and inclusive practices in all activities.

Job description

Ivy Tech Evansville seeks a Electric Line Technology Adjunct Instructor to provide engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within Electric Line Technology. Electric Line Technology students will study the electrical principles required for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting power lines. They'll also learn about transformers, grounding, protective equipment, climbing techniques and tools, and rigging. These students may go on to pursue careers and Electric Linemen or be a journeyman line worker.Major Responsibilities:Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.PROGRAM OPERATION:Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.Submits requested information within established timelines.STUDENTS:Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.INSTRUCTION:Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties associated with the position may be assigned.Hiring Range:$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).Work Hours:This role would teach classes running on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm- 8:50pm starting in the August term.Adjunct Faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters or the midpoint,: January, March, August, or October. Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.Minimum Qualifications:Journeyperson line worker cardAt least five years of field experience.Possesses a baccalaureate degree, or higher, in technology, engineering, engineering technology or a baccalaureate degree, or higher, directly related to the program’s disciplineMust be available to teach in person on the Evansville, IN campusPreferred Qualifications:Experience providing instruction at a post-secondary institute.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
