Black Hawk College is seeking a part-time adjunct EMT/Paramedic Instructor to contribute to our health sciences programs in Illinois and neighboring Iowa.

The instructor will deliver classroom lectures and labs, assess competencies, and supervise clinical rotations while developing engaging syllabi and assessments that align with program outcomes. A licensed paramedic is required, with teaching experience preferred and a commitment to student success.

General Information & Responsibilities

Black Hawk College seeks a part-time adjunct EMT/Paramedic Instructor. The successful candidate will participate in teaching classroom lectures and lab activities, assessing skills competencies, and supervising clinical rotations.

Description of Duties

Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students’ educational experience; develops and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance; develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.

Education & Experience

Paramedic license or eligibility for licensure in Illinois and Iowa required. Two years of teaching experience in a health-related field preferred.

Pay is commensurate with education and experience.

To qualify for benefits, an adjunct faculty member must qualify for membership in the Adjunct Faculty Bargaining Unit at the beginning of the second consecutive semester of teaching six (6) equated credit hours or more per semester (fall/spring or spring/fall) or have 160 contact hours per semester (fall/spring or spring/fall).
