Job summary

Ivy Tech Lake County is seeking qualified Diesel Technicians to teach and mentor students in Diesel Technology. Adjunct instructors are contracted on an as-needed basis, with evening classes at the East Chicago, IN campus.

You will develop syllabi, manage attendance and grades, and support student questions outside class time. Qualified candidates may have an Associates degree with 3+ years of experience and certification, or a Bachelor's degree with related experience.

Qualifications

• Teaching or training experience is preferred.
• Employment is contingent on acceptable criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach all instructional duties to facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course and follow content requirements.
• Maintain attendance and grading records per policy.
• Be available to students outside scheduled class time.
• Meet all scheduled classes and use Canvas/PowerPoint as appropriate.

The employee, their spouse, and qualifying dependents can take up to 6 credit hours per semester on us!Major Responsibilities:PROGRAM OPERATION:Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.Submit requested information within established timelines.STUDENTS:Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.INSTRUCTION:Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.Candidates can qualify through one of three routes:1. Have an Associates Degree in Diesel Technology or related field + 3 years of relevant work experience + relevant industry certification (if applicable)2. Have a Bachelor's degree in a related field + 2 years of related work experience + relevant industry certification (if applicable)3.
