Job summary

Ivy Tech Lake County is seeking qualified Diesel Technicians or Diesel Mechanics to teach and mentor students in the Diesel Technology program. Adjunct instructors are contracted on an as-needed basis with evening availability and a focus on hands-on learning.

Pay is $47.35 per classroom hour. Eligible staff may access fee remission for themselves and qualifying family members. Employment is contingent on background check and adherence to Ivy Tech policies.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Diesel Technology or related field with 3 years of work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in any field with 5 years of related work experience.
• Teaching or training experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• PROGRAM OPERATION: Teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) taught and follow syllabus content.
• Maintain attendance and grading records per College policy.
• Submit requested information within established timelines.
• Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions.
• Meet all scheduled classes and use Canvas/PowerPoint and other tools as appropriate.

Ivy Tech Lake County is searching for qualified Diesel Technicians or Diesel Mechanics to help teach our students! Adjunct instructors are contracted on an as needed basis and have the flexibility to work within their availability. Location: East Chicago, IN Pay: $47.35/classroom hour Schedule:Evenings Fee Remission: Adjunct faculty members who work at least 2 semesters qualify for free tuition at Ivy Tech! The employee, their spouse, and qualifying dependents can take up to 6 credit hours per semester on us!

Major Responsibilities:

• PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
• Submit requested information within established timelines.
• STUDENTS: Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
• INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Candidates can qualify through one of three routes:

1. Have an Associates Degree in Diesel Technology or related field + 3 years of relevant work experience + relevant industry certification (if applicable)
2. Have a Bachelor's degree in a related field + 2 years of related work experience + relevant industry certification (if applicable)
3. Have a Bachelor's degree in any field + 5 years of related work experience + relevant industry certification (if applicable)

Teaching or training experience is preferred.

Employment is contingent on acceptable criminal background check results.
