Job description

About the Role

Faculty member will conduct assignments and co‑curricular college activities with a focus on teaching network technologies, operating systems, and related subjects at Aims Community College.

Job Duties
  • Teach courses in local and wide area networking, including Microsoft Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, file and application servers.
  • Create and deploy network policy, user policy, and profiles.
  • Use basic network scripting with PowerShell, batch files, or VBScript.
  • Deploy and maintain multi‑platform workstations and stand‑alone servers for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
  • Understand TCP/IP networking and other protocols; analyze, troubleshoot and resolve network problems remotely and on‑site.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) for course materials.
  • Interact with students to facilitate learning and employ instructional techniques that maximize learning opportunities.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • For course CIS1018: Master’s degree in business administration with information technology emphasis, or a Master’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, or related field with 18 graduate‑level credit hours in the discipline and 2,000 hours of recent industry experience; or bachelor's degree with 4,000 hours of experience; or associate degree with 4,000 hours of experience.
  • For courses CIS1045,1075,2018,2020,2040,2043,2055,2067,2082: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, computer information systems, business administration with information or computer systems emphasis, cyber security, or engineering with 2,000 hours of recent industry experience; or associate degree with 4,000 hours of experience.
  • For course CIS1055: Bachelor’s degree in business, business education, or related business field with 2,000 hours of recent industry experience; or associate degree with 4,000 hours of experience.
  • Minimum of continuous teaching experience in the content area within the last seven years, or older experience considered if continuously teaching since that time.
  • Hold or qualify for a post‑secondary vocational credential in Computer Information Systems issued by Aims Community College CTE Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical awareness of packet‑capturing tools such as Wireshark and Network Miner.
  • Experience maintaining perimeter security systems (firewalls, intrusion detection).
  • Background in information security topics: intrusion detection, malware analysis, network defense, traffic analysis, O/S security.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience.
