Job description

Job Overview

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is a community college that offers associate degrees, certificates, and workforce training programs.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a 15‑hour teaching load per semester during the nine‑month period, with an additional 12 load hours in summer for a total of 42 load hours annually.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and deliver instructional materials, including lectures, labs, and presentations.
  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and assess student performance using the course outline and learning outcomes.
  • Participate in program‑level learning assessment, including articulation of outcomes, administration of measures, and recommendation of improvements.
  • Develop and update course curricula, handouts, and assessment tools in collaboration with faculty and administrators.
  • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, field experience, and similar settings.
  • Maintain accurate grades and course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations, and submit grades by established deadlines.
  • Meet all classes and scheduled responsibilities, such as office hours and faculty meetings, and notify the supervisor of any scheduling conflicts.
  • Provide in‑person or virtual office hours with supervisor approval, clearly communicating availability to students.
  • Teach courses by alternative delivery methods as needed, including evening or weekend courses and instruction at other facilities in Benton or Washington County.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and college‑wide meetings.
  • Engage in professional development activities, such as attending conferences, maintaining certifications, and receiving training on pedagogical and technological advances.
  • Participate in service to the college, including serving on committees, advisory boards, and hiring panels, and performing community outreach activities.
  • Provide mentorship and orientation support for new faculty, and serve as a liaison for Early College Experience faculty.
  • Perform other academically related duties assigned by the supervisor as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Programming, or an MBA with at least 18 graduate hours in Networking, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
  • If the candidate has an out‑of‑field degree, credentialing documentation in at least two of the following areas is required: in‑field professional certification, minimum of 3 years’ professional employment, high‑performing student learning outcomes, in‑field scholarship, and relevant additional training equivalent to 18 semester‑credit‑hours of CEUs.
  • College‑level teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and programming principles and practices.
  • Preferred qualifications include CISCO CCNA or CCNP, DevNet Associate, EC‑Council Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security+, ISACA, or other Cybersecurity certifications.
Physical Demands

Physical demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Manipulating items with fingers, including keyboarding.
  • Sitting, standing, and walking regularly.
  • Hearing and speaking continuously.
  • Performing repetitive motions.
Environment

The work environment is typically a professional office setting with moderate noise from conversations and office equipment. Occasional visits to storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations may be required.
