SUMMARY
Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two (2) courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on-campus, off-campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
- Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Must have a terminal degree, including a JD, in a field of business or have a master’s level degree and one or more earned, actively maintained, recognized industry credentials.
- High demand credentials include a range of industry certifications and licenses, including (but not limited to) CPA, CFA, CFE, CFP, CMA, CIA, a PMI credential, Real Estate license, Insurance license, bar admission, an ASCM Certification, Six Sigma, Certified Analytics Professional, SCRUM Master, etc.
- Master’s or higher in the teaching discipline or a master’s in another field with 18+ graduate hours in the discipline.
Experience: Must have some teaching or industry experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
- Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.
- Proficiency with LMS (e.g., D2L/Canvas/Blackboard), Zoom (or equivalent), and publisher platforms (e.g., Connect, MyLab, MindTap).
- College or University teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
- Online or hybrid teaching experience.
