Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana invites qualified adjunct faculty to deliver nursing-related courses and contribute to student success across multiple campuses. Faculty will adapt to diverse classrooms, utilize available technology, and align with approved syllabi and assessment methods.

Selected instructors will maintain student records, support learning goals, and uphold FERPA compliance while promoting inclusive teaching strategies within Ivy Tech’s mission and policies.

Qualifications

  • RN or LPN license in Indiana with at least one year of nursing experience.
  • Has completed Indiana Dept of Health Train-the-Trainer or holds Workplace Specialist License.
  • Clinical/Lab: licensed nurse in Indiana with at least one year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes per college policy and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain outlines, syllabi, plans, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records and grades.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
  • This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned.
  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Didactic (lecture) Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, and Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer One of the following: Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory or Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.
  • Clinical/Lab Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience teaching CNA Course in a college setting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
