Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is hiring adjunct nursing faculty to deliver courses and contribute to a positive student learning experience. You will develop course materials, use technology to enhance teaching, and maintain accurate records within FERPA guidelines.

Applicants should hold an Indiana nursing license with at least one year of practice, plus training in adult learning theory or an equivalent credential.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an Indiana nursing license in good standing.
  • Minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience.
  • Completion of Indiana Dept. of Health Train-the-Trainer or Workplace Specialist License.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers assigned classes following college policy and objectives.
  • Develops outlines, syllabi, lesson plans and assessments.
  • Maintains accurate student records and grades.
  • Engages with students to promote active learning and positive experience.
  • Ensures safety and emergency procedures for all learning environments.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives. Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods. Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements. Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular). Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations. Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments. This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Didactic (lecture) Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, and Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer One of the following: Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory or Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.

Clinical/Lab Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching CNA Course in a college setting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
