Adjunct Faculty, Auditing (Fall 2025)

Position Available: August 25, 2025

FLSA Status: Exempt (salary)

Job Status: Part-time Faculty (non-tenure track)

Job Location: Remote – Must be a Resident of the State of Illinois

Position Summary:

The Brennan School of Business at Dominican University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Faculty position to teach the following:

Course Number: ACCT 412: Auditing

Course Length: 15 weeks

Course Dates: August 25, 2025 – December 12, 2025

Delivery Mode: Online asynchronous, but office hours are required in-person at Dominican University

Location: River Forest campus

The course is a core requirement for all undergraduate accounting majors. The Adjunct Faculty member will report to the Department Chair of Accounting, Finance, and Entrepreneurship.

Course Description

This course presents an overview of financial audits by public accountants and resulting audit reports. Students learn about auditing standards and procedures, sampling techniques, and how to calculate materiality. Topics highlighted in this course also include the professional and ethical responsibilities of an independent public accountant when reporting the results of an audit. Students are strongly encouraged to complete ACCT 311 before enrolling in this course. Prerequisite(s): ACCT 310

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting (MSA), Business Administration (MBA), or a closely related field
  • At least two years of professional experience working in accounting or a closely related field


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of professional experience in finance or accounting
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience (preferably in higher education)
  • Experience using Canvas Learning Management System
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professional Certifications (ex. CPA, CMA)


Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following:

  • Adhere to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices.
  • Administer student evaluations and submit the required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Grade weekly assignments, respond to student emails and phone calls promptly, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
  • Prepare course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to the subject matter.
  • Hold office hours in person and/or via Zoom to support student learning.
  • Adhere to the goals and objectives of the course, as guided by the Department Chair.

Salary and FLSA Status

  • Salary: $2,000 - $5,000. The actual pay is determined based on credentials, experience, course level, and credit hours.
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, Part-Time
