Job summary

Saint Leo University seeks an adjunct instructor of Theology to develop online courses in Catholic Social Teaching for the MA in Theology and the ThD in Applied Theology programs. Courses are delivered in Canvas with both synchronous and asynchronous components, organized into eight two-week modules.

The instructor will teach courses, develop all components, and submit final grades promptly, reporting to the department chair and location administrator as needed.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in theology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Ability to teach graduate theology courses and develop online courses.
  • Familiarity with Canvas and online course design for Catholic Social Teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses as contracted.
  • Provide course materials as listed in the syllabus.
  • Submit final grades within three days after the term ends.
  • Deliver professional course content per syllabus and directions from dean or chair.
  • Meet all scheduled synchronous class meetings.
  • Be available to students during online office hours.
  • Disseminate information to students in a timely manner.
  • Abide by university policies and core values.
  • Carry out duties per website, handbooks, and policies.

Job Description SummarySaint Leo University is currently seeking an adjunct instructor of Theology who will develop online courses in Catholic Social Teaching for the MA in Theology and the ThD in Applied Theology programs. The instructor would also teach these courses, each of which are offered typically once every 1-2 years.Courses are developed and delivered in Canvas. Courses are typically organized into 8 two-week modules and include both synchronous (live sessions) and asynchronous (readings, assignments, discussions, activities, and recorded lectures) components.The instructor would be responsible for developing all these components.Applications are processed upon the receipt of all official transcripts while the posting is active.Job DescriptionJob Expectations :Instructors will be considered for needs that arise in our master’s or doctoral programs in theology. Those hired will be considered for graduate teaching and graduate course development as needed.Typical job expectations are:Teach assigned courses as contracted.Provide all necessary information and teach materials as provided on the course syllabus.Submit final grades within three (3) days after the end of the term.Deliver in a professional manner course content for any assigned course(s) as specified by the master syllabus and/or as directed by the appropriate academic school dean, director, or chair.Meet all scheduled synchronous class meetings for the assigned period.Be available to students in online office hours.Cooperate in the dissemination of information to students.Abide by and uphold University policies and core values.Carry out instructor duties and responsibilities as provided on the website, handbook(s), and policies.Reporting :Adjuncts are assigned to specific teaching locations and report to their location administrator as it pertains to daily operations as defined in the term-by-term contractual agreement, but ultimately have responsibility to their discipline specific department chair or director and/or school dean.Required/Minimum Qualification(s):A terminal degree in theology from a regionally accredited institution.Required DocumentsThe following documents are required for consideration.
