General Job Summary

Kirkwood Community College’s Industrial Technologies Department is seeking a part-time instructor for ELE-364 Basic Electrical Circuits (4 credits). A successful candidate will have at least three years of relevant industry experience working with electrical systems and circuits, including electrical safety, soldering techniques, electrical theory, terminology and symbols, electrical calculations, meter usage, magnetic induction, transformers, and magnetic relays. Candidates should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to clearly communicate foundational electrical concepts while connecting classroom theory to practical, hands‑on lab activities. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part‑time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face instruction in discipline
• Teach using the department’s established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
• Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
• Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to the student grade book.
• Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
• Perform other related work duties as assigned.
