Job description

The Adjunct- Automotive position provides quality instruction andmaintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, withmajor emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluatingstudents. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitorsteaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by theDepartment Chair, or other leadership members. The incumbent mustexhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitaskwhile engaging large groups or people with complicated material.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled.
  • Considers individual differences or students in order todesign and support a range of appropriate learningactivities.
  • Participates in the identification of students with academicor other needs and responds by utilizing an appropriateresource.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distributes and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporatesdepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructorrequirements.
  • Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with theprescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measurestudents performance in achieving course goals andobjectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department.
  • Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching dutiesand professional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Created a positive classroom atmosphere that encouragesactive and collaborative learning, student effort, academicchallenge, student and faculty interaction, and support forlearners.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication withstudents.
  • Encourages a sense of community among students for learningboth inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.
Classroom Maintenance & Collaboration
  • Maintains a safe instructional laboratory environment byenforcing departmental safety policies, personal protectiveequipment (PPE) requirements, hazardous material handlingprocedures, and industry-standard shop practices.
  • Monitors student activities to ensure the safe operation ofvehicles, lifts, tools, equipment, and shop facilities.
  • Maintains instructional equipment, tools, training aids, andlaboratory work areas in good working order.
  • Reports damaged, missing, malfunctioning, or unsafeequipment to departmental leadership and assists with maintainingan organized instructional environment.
  • Supports student career readiness by modeling professionalworkplace expectations, reinforcing, employability skills, and,when appropriate, connecting students with employment, internship,apprenticeship, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Collaborates with full-time faculty and departmentleadership to maintain consistency in course delivery, laboratoryprocedures, assessment practices, safety expectations,instructional materials, and student learning outcomes.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend all department meetings and requiredtrainings.
MIMIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Valid ASE Master Certification (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7and A8) or equivalent manufacturer certifications, advancedtechnical credentials, or demonstrated industry expertise may beconsidered based on departmental needs and teachingassignment.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrable ability to gain access to worksite(s).

Compensation Details

Compensation: $56.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
