Job summary

CSCC in Columbus, OH is seeking an Adjunct – Education in the Department of Psychology & Education to provide quality instruction and maintain a positive learning environment. The role focuses on teaching, supporting and evaluating students, with oversight of curriculum and use of technology.

Qualifications

  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primary responsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction.
  • Considers individual differences of students in order to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades in a timely manner, and communicates progress feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements. Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.

Education

Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Psychology, Special Education, Education Administration, MAT, Science Education, Mathematics Education, or Learning Design and Educational Technology

Job Description:

The Adjunct – Education (Department of Psychology & Education)position provides quality instruction and maintains a positivelearning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placedon teaching, supporting and evaluating students. The Adjunct roleprovides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectivenessin courses assigned by the Department Chair, or other leadershipmembers. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skillsand the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of peoplewith complicated material.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primaryresponsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum inconjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigorof programs and the quality of instruction.

  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely manner, and in accordance with established policies andprocedures of the College, and communicates progress feedback aswell as other relevant information to students throughout thesemester.

  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.

  • Encourages a sense of community among students for learningboth inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction,Educational Psychology, Special Education, EducationAdministration, Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), ScienceEducation, Mathematics Education, or Learning Design andEducational Technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Typical office and classroom environment. Regular exposure tomoderate noise typical to business offices.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
