Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will develop, prepare, and teach EMS coursework focused on laboratory training. Course offerings may be taught during the day or evening with required flexibility throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, and/or classroom settings to promote student success.
• Support and promote the college and department missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
• Collaborate with the Director of EMS Programs, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum for mastery of course content.
• Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Provide timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
• Document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
• Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Academic Lab Manager, EMS Programs

Qualifications Required

• Associate’s degree or higher from a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution.
• Active certification as a Paramedic in the State of Florida.
• Four (4) years of field-level provider experience within the pre‑hospital environment.
• Instructor qualification as indicated in Florida Administrative Code 64J‑1.0201.

Additional Requirements

• Instructor certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and either International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) within six (6) months of employment.
• Criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred

• Teaching experience.
• Ability to incorporate appropriate instructional technology into coursework.

• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization.
• Communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications.
