Job summary

3M is seeking an Advanced Application Engineer for its Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division in Maplewood, MN. You will develop and optimize adhesive dispensing processes for New Product Introductions, design trials to evaluate materials and methods, and establish robust process parameters to ensure product quality and manufacturability.

This on-site role includes travel up to 20% and relocation assistance may be authorized.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering from an accredited institution.
1 year of experience in process development, application engineering, precision dispensing, or related manufacturing fields.
Knowledge of rheology, viscosity, thixotropy, cure behavior and material flow in dispensing processes.
Experience with dispensing equipment such as valves, pumps, nozzles, controllers, robotic dispense platforms.

Responsibilities

Developing and optimizing adhesive dispensing processes from concept through production launch.
Designing and executing application trials, feasibility studies, and proof-of-concept evaluations for materials and dispensing methods.
Establishing and documenting process parameters: flow rate, bead geometry, shot size, placement accuracy, cure conditions.
Collaborating with product development, manufacturing, quality, automation and customer-facing teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
