Job summary

3M is seeking an Adhesive Dispensing and Processing Application Engineer in Maplewood, MN. The role focuses on developing and optimizing adhesive dispensing processes for new products, with trials, feasibility studies and process parameter documentation.

You will collaborate with product development, manufacturing, quality, automation and customer teams to translate requirements into scalable dispensing solutions, leveraging rheology and cure behavior knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering from an accredited institution.
• One year of experience in process development, application engineering, precision dispensing, fluid handling systems, automation, robotics, electronics manufacturing, or manufacturing process optimization.
• Experience with adhesives, sealants, coatings, encapsulants, or similar fluids in development or manufacturing settings.
• Understanding of rheology, viscosity, cure behavior and material flow affecting dispense performance.

Responsibilities

• Developing and optimizing adhesive dispensing processes from concept to production launch.
• Designing and executing trials, feasibility studies, and proof‑of‑concept evaluations.
• Documenting engineering parameters: flow rate, bead geometry, shot size, placement, cure, environmental controls.
• Applying rheology and flow knowledge to improve dispense performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborating across product development, manufacturing, quality, automation and customer teams.
