Job summary

BayMark Health Services seeks a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted programs and to lead group and individual sessions addressing opioid addiction in an outpatient setting.

You will evaluate progress, coordinate with doctors and therapists, and ensure thorough documentation while adhering to state requirements. A Master’s degree and state certification are preferred; a plan is required if experience is not in a drug-and-alcohol setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialization) or related field with practical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours).
• Associate degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience (3,640 hours).
• Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Coordinate care of assigned patients and present status to treatment team.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans per state regulations.
• Provide clinical services and opiate addiction counseling.
• Excellent documentation and computer skills required.
• Other duties as determined by supervisor.
